Cooking School Boot Camp
Cooking School Boot Camp
3-Day or 5-Day Cooking Boot Camp
The foundation of quality cooking is quality ingredients. Even the best chef in the world can only make a mediocre meal if he or she is given mediocre ingredients. To ensure your food is the best it can be for both your body and your taste buds, it is important to know, not only how it is made, but where it was grown or raised.
No one understands this better than the owners of The Hideaway Country Inn. They have partnered together with Local Farmers to create a:
* 3- or 5-day cooking boot camp that will take you through every chef’s staple ingredients, starting with chicken, eggs, and dairy, then on to herbs, fruits, and vegetables, and finishing up with fish, pork and beef. Attendants will get to visit the farms and gardens where each of these ingredients are grown and raised, while getting the unique opportunity to talk one-on-one with the farmers who work so hard to provide the best ingredients to gourmet chefs and parents alike. Participants will learn what to look for when evaluating the freshness and quality of ingredients, which can only be effectively done once they first understand the conditions under which their food is raised, grown or processed.
After each visit to the farms or gardens, attendants will get a combination of theory and hands-on experience with each ingredient, learning all the various ways they can be prepared and used in an assortment of interesting meals and delicious recipes. Participants will walk away having a better understanding of the food they eat on a daily basis, along with a newfound knowledge of cooking techniques that they can use in their own kitchen to provide diversity to the meals they make for themselves and their families. Everyone from aspiring chefs to a group of friends looking for a fun weekend away will love this boot camp! It is an opportunity to learn more about what goes into your body, while getting to play around in the kitchen learning new and interesting ways to cook! Participants will get to experience the entire process, from farm to table, something never before offered in classroom form.
The boot camp will take place at the beautiful Hideaway Inn in Bucyrus, Ohio, which is situated on 6 acres of gorgeous farmland. Attendants can stay the Hideaway Inn with breakfast provided. The days will begin at 9 am, with lessons covering the different properties and characteristics of the ingredients of the day, which will be followed by the farm tours led by the farmers themselves. From 12 pm to 1 pm, attendants will get an hour to themselves for lunch. There will be a box lunch availabl. However, you are free to bring your own lunch or go out to eat at local restaurants. At 1 pm, activities will resume at The Hideaway Inn’s kitchen with a hands-on lesson with the day’s ingredients. Participants will learn how to cook, prepare and season their ingredients from experienced and knowledgeable chefs. Then at 4 pm, participants will conclude the day by indulging in their delicious creations! For participants in the full 5-day boot camp, The Hideaway Inn celebrates the intense, but rewarding week with a 3-4 course meal, with an accompanying wine tasting. Be assured, by the time you leave, you will know your way around a kitchen!
The 3-day boot camp costs $1,199, which includes the first three days featuring chicken, eggs, herbs, produce, and dairy. The 5-day boot camp costs $1,999, and includes the additional days of fish, pork, and beef, as well as the wine and food tasting provided on the final day. All participants will receive complementary reference books on all the ingredients, a quality apron, and a variety kitchen supplies to take home. Every participant, from the serious culinary professionals to the busy moms, will walk away with great memories, new friends, and most importantly, knowledge and skills that are relevant and applicable to their life! We promise it will change the way you approach purchasing, preparing, and cooking your food!
