Live Stream/Skype Your Wedding

January 9th, 2012 by Karen Kelley

“Once in a while, in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale.”

Grandma remembers you as a little girl with big eyes and a booboo on your finger that always needed a kiss.  Her hand used to rest easily atop your head as you would bounce up and down at her side restlessly. It was a special relationship for you two.   You were Nana’s girl.  You baked cookies together, picked flowers, folded towels, and played Yahtzee together. But your childhood went fast and the teen years separated you for a while.  But even over the miles life brought you back together and this time in a whole new way, as women, laughing at life and commiserating over troubles. Your conversations were easy and full of love.

Now as your wedding day approaches it becomes apparent that Grandmother can’t attend. The miles between you are too much for her now.  You both grieve.

Here at the HideAway Country Inn we may have something that can resolve this issue. “We can Skype your wedding,” says owner, Debbie Miller. “Through the technology of WIFI (wireless) internet access and Skype, a free shelf software program.  we can live broadcast your wedding pretty much anywhere around the globe.  That means that if you have an invited guest who is not able to attend they can still have front row seats at your wedding by means of their own computer.”

Good wedding planners like those at the HideAway Inn prepare for the unexpected and will have the ability to Skype or live broadcast your wedding for situations like the one above.  All your long distance guests will need is a computer with a webcam or video camera, Internet connection, and a Skype account. The Skype website (www.skype.com) has a video tutorial for first time users that they might find beneficial.

We do suggest though that an insert that offers the Skype broadcast of your wedding and instructions on how to connect up with it be included with your wedding invitations.

Fairy tales can come true.

Experiencing a Power Shortage?

January 7th, 2012 by Karen Kelley

There gets to be a point during the colder months where the battery that charges our body and spirit runs low.
The color outside has bleached away to whites, grays and tans. We are tired, have ache’s in places we didn’t know we had places.

When our cars grumble and grind trying to start on those cold days we know that it’s time to get out the jumper cables. Fastening the red alligator clamp to the positive terminal and the black to the frame we scurry back to the drivers seat to turn the ignition on. If all goes well the engine will jump to life and we are on our way.

But our physical bodies just don’t react well to a jumper cable fastened to each ear lobe when our own batteries are low. We power down, sometimes in the most unusual places.

Having decided against the jumper cable method some have found a better alternative to getting re-energized and one that seems to have a more lasting affect.

A Dead Sea Salt Slurry, a mixture of Dead Sea salt and aromatherapy oils, may be just what you need and no, you don’t drink it. It is massaged into the skin which accomplishes the following:

  • Cleans and removes old dead skin cells revealing a younger skin layer.
  • Cleans your pores which allows your skin to breathe more easily.
  • Firms up your skin tissues
  • Gets your blood to circulating better which removes toxins

Though some bath salts provide similar benefits, Dead Sea salt has a higher level of mineral compounds. At Livestrong.com, a website supported by the Lance Armstrong Foundation, it notes, “Dead Sea salt contains ten times more salt than other ocean waters, plus sulfur, magnesium, calcium, iodine, potassium, chlorine, and high bromides. These naturally occurring elements make Dead Sea salt the choice of many high end spa therapies and skin care products. Dead sea salt is also the medicinal salt of choice for dry skin disorders, acne, and musculoskeletal related pain and swelling.” Combine those benefits with soothing massage oil and you have something better than jumper cables, and this won’t leave a mark!

The Livestrong.com website also points to other benefits as well, “Dead Sea salts also have the ability to reduce stress. Soaking in a bath with these salts causes a drop in blood pressure and muscle relaxation. Dead Sea salts have also been found to increase circulation and remove toxins from the body, thereby allowing increased levels of relaxation. By allowing the body to become more relaxed, insomnia levels decrease and allow users to be more rested and rejuvenated.”

Well then that’s the ticket! So climb down off the dryer, pick your head up off the desk and find a place near you that gives a Dead Sea Salt massage. The spa at the HideAway Country Inn Bed and Breakfast in Bucyrus, OH not only offers this but when you are done you might be in time for a delicious meal in their restaurant. Che De Cuisine, Marc Sleeckx has built a solid reputation for offering guests an impressively varied menu of consistently superb cuisine. Top it all off with a glass of Cabernet Franc or Viognier-Rousanne wine.
