Date Night Fridays – Very Important

February 4th, 2012 by Karen Kelley

On the dashboard of our vehicles we have little yellow or red lights that will flicker on warning us of a malfunction or some safety issue.  These are sometimes called ‘idiot lights.’  The reason is that if we were foolish enough to forget that we were getting low on gas, forgot to fasten our seat belts or haven’t checked our oil in a while they will provide a warning that it needs to be done.

How many relationships would  benefit from a similar set of dashboard lights  that could warn us that some maintenance is needed?  Truthfully all of us, men and women, get so caught up in the daily routine of life we fail to give our personal relationships the maintenance they need.

Stephen Brunetti, a Pennsylvania licensed clinical social worker, recommends that couples have a date at least every two weeks. “More is better,” he says, “… although it can be hard to schedule, sometimes, if kids are involved.  He recommends that couples make time to plan and prioritize the together time. “It will not just fall into your lap. … It has to be strategized,” Brunetti says. Also he notes that couples on dates should avoid talking about everyday things, like finances, chores and appointments, he says and they should at least set aside a four-hour time block.

Date nights strengthen friendships and help couples reconnect emotionally.  Empty nesters, working couples and couples with children all need private time.  Every Friday evening from  5pm-10pm is Couples Date Night at the HideAway Inn where we provide a variety of different offerings that allow the two of you to recharge your relationship. Come for dinner or stay the night.

You won’t want to leave and Chef Marc Sleeckx and staff make an incredible breakfast.

Cooking Class with International Chef

February 1st, 2012 by Karen Kelley

The winter months are good time for the type of traditional meals whose finger-like aromas beckon admirers from all regions of the house.  You don’t even have to say what you are cooking or baking.  Everyone knows.  That is what is called a comfort food.  An edible memory that nourishes the soul as well as the body.   Eating them verses creating them is an entirely different story and can be a challenge.

The Hideaway Inn at Bucyrus has several cooking programs that are open to the general public.

These programs will be conducted on a monthly basis with each class having a different theme.  For the month of January the focus will be on preparing Soups, Stews and Sauces as well as Regional Comfort Meals.  The cooking classes will be hosted by international Chef de Cuisine, Marc Sleeckx.  Students and Chef Marc will work together in preparing the five-course dinner served on Saturday evening. The topic will vary depending on the menu, but in each class you will focus on a wide range of cooking techniques that can be applied to any cuisine. Chef Marc will be sharing stories of his world wide travels and insights.    Classes are limited in size so call early to make your reservation.  Contact us at HideAway Country Inn at 800-570-8233!

Girl Friend Retreats – The fire that warms the spirit

February 1st, 2012 by Karen Kelley

“Partook in a song and dance, which released all the bolts that kept me postured like a straight-laced mannequin. I can now turn my head nearly a full 180 degrees. A new perspective, a new day.”  So writes Susan Mrosek, owner of the Pondering Pool, a business that evolved from Susan’s art and musings on life and being a woman.

At Susan’s website, www.ponderingpool.com, and Facebook page women hover over her sayings like hummingbirds on a trumpeter vine.  You can tell that there is something very necessary about ladies getting together from time to time.  It’s a nourishment that really can’t be explained and it need not be for a long period, a few hours will do. But it is a ‘fire’ that women warm their spirits over.

The HideAway Inn provides a safe, comfortable and nurturing atmosphere for moments like that.  Whether it is to sip wine and enjoy a plate of hors d’oeuvres and talk, learn to line dance or square dance, or perhaps play a game of bridge, euchre or spoons.  We are thinking about what fun things we can provide to make that girls getaway a refreshing and fund time.  If you have suggestions too, don’t hesitate to let us know.   The point is to call your girlfriends and slip away to the HideAway.  Give us a call and let’s set something up.    (800) 570-8233
