How do I book a balloon flight?
It’s simple. Just give us a call 800.570.8233 and we’ll give you all the information you need to book a flight.

How long are the flights?
On average, flights are one hour in length. Some flights can go for up to 1 1/2 hours depending on the weather conditions, the passengers’ combined weight, and the temperature of the air.

What time of day do the flights take place?
Flights take place at sunrise and approximately 2 hours prior to sunset. Hot-air balloons do not normally fly
during mid day due to thermal activity, which makes the air unstable.

What type of weather conditions are needed for a balloon flight?
Flights take place in winds less than 8 mph with no fog, rain or approaching storms in the immediate area.

How much time should I allow for the entire flight process?
The entire process normally takes between 3 and 4 hours. You’ll begin by arriving approx 45 minutes prior to launch. The average flight lasts about 1 hour, then after landing it takes about 20 – 30 minutes to pack the equipment away. The speed of the wind and landing conditions will determine how long it takes to return to the launch site of HideAway Country Inn grounds.

What should I wear?
It is highly recommended that you wear long pants and comfortable shoes. Please do not wear high heals or sandals as we never know where we’re going to land. We are at the mercy of the wind and may have to land in the middle of a field with weeds, a cow pasture, a wet soggy area, or we might get lucky and land in a nicely mowed lawn. A light jacket might also be good to take along since we sometimes end up packing the balloon after sunset. A hat or cap can be helpful due to the intense heat emitted from the propane burner above our heads.

Should I bring a camera?
Absolutely. Just make sure it has a strap. (We hate to see you lose your camera)

Can I bring friends or family to watch?
Yes, but due to limited seating in our chase vehicle, they may have to bring their own transportation. Keep in
mind when we land we are usually trespassing and must obtain permission from the landowner before driving or walking on their property

Is Age and Health a consideration?
Our balloon flight is not recommended for those under 6 or over 80, pregnant women, persons with
osteoporosis, recent trauma or surgery. People taking blood thinners need to be aware that it’s possible to get bumped or bruised on the landing. Anyone with health considerations accepts the responsibility to consult their physician before flying. The passengers should be of sound mental and physical condition. We are not qualified to express an opinion that you are fit to fly. Passengers will be standing during the balloon flight and some agility to get in and out of the balloon basket is helpful.

This session lasts approximately 90 minutes. Start with an exfoliating Dead Sea Salt Slurry prepared with aromatherapy oils. Our therapist will gently apply this to your skin, start a hot shower, and then leave you in privacy while you rinse off under the soothing spray. Once dried off, return to the table for a relaxing full body massage with heated oil. Our therapist will pay special attention to any problem areas you may have such as elbows, back, or arms & feet, leaving your skin feeling silky smooth and soft. You will be able to relish the effects for weeks!

Whether the production of your choice is an afternoon or evening event, we look forward to providing you with a fabulous dinner to enjoy before or after the show. Round out your experience with a romantic stay in one of our 12 comfortable suites.

Sharpen your culinary prowess by treating yourself to a weekend of kitchen education and delicious meals.

Upon your arrival on Friday evening, enjoy our “Wine Snob” wine appreciation class. You will learn how taste buds work, how to hold your wine glass to maximize your wine experience, and how to develop your palate. You will also learn how to select a great bottle of wine that will complement any appetizer, meal or dessert. This class is $55 per person and includes appetizers.

On Saturday, enjoy two cooking classes hosted by our Chef de Cuisine, Marc Sleeckx. Menus vary by the weekend, so call ahead for specific information. Each class is $90 per person.

As time allows, you may want to consider touring one of central Ohio’s many food-related business. Nearby are: Eyestone Flower Farm, Elkridge Pheasant Farm, a modern dairy farm, Cooper’s Mill, Vogal, Crown Tower, Shamrock Vineyard, and Bratworks.

These classes are specifically designed for our guests who cannot find time mid-week to take one of our themed cooking schools or live within a 25 mile radius and do not have the need for room accommodations. The individual cooking classes begin on Friday mornings after breakfast, at 11:00am. To 1:00 p.m. Classes continues on Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, and then again from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Classes are designed to give participants the opportunity to work one on one with our Chef Marc. Limit – 2 guests per seminar. Please book your individual cooking classes at least two weeks in advance.

In each class, students and Chef Marc will work together in preparing the five-course dinner served on Saturday evening. The topic will vary depending on the menu, but in each class you focus on a wide range of cooking techniques that can be applied to any cuisine. Chef Marc will be sharing stories of his world wide travels and insights. Individual cooking classes are $160.00 per person plus 7% sales tax.

Our Three Day Classes are offered to our guests once or twice a month in a variety of exciting cuisines!

If you are passionate about cooking or even if you have always wanted to learn, but have never found the time, why not consider a cooking school with an internationally trained Chef?

Our group classes are available all year and are characterized by its use of the freshest ingredients, prevalently from the Inn’s surrounding herb garden and local farmers. We are in the heart of high production farm country. Our students may participate in picking and collecting the herbs and have the certainty of always utilizing and eating 100% natural ingredients.

In our school you will be hands on actively participating in approximately sixteen hours of five labs. You will participate in the preparation of two breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners. After the each lesson, you will enjoy the dishes you have prepared with your fellow students in dining room setting with complimentary wine pairing by our resident intermediate sommelier.

The Farm tours consist of an opportunity to talk directly with actual farmers who make their living from the farm. You may tour a 600,000 bird pheasant farm, 2100 head pig farm, dairy with 700 ++ cows, flower farm, jam and jelly factory, and vineyard. This is a drive your own tour, so you can take as much time available to learn from the Farmers themselves.

Typical Schedule follows:

Day One

• Arrival at the HideAway Country Inn by 3:00 pm.
• Your first demonstration will begin with our Executive Chef in our commercial kitchen at 4:00 pm.
• You will then have time to rest before your welcome dinner in the Manor House.
• After dinner you will join Our Chef for FAQ and storytelling.  This will include an itinerary and recipe assignments for the next two days.

Day Two

• Chef will await you at 8:00 am and your first lab will begin by preparing breakfast.
• A small break will be allowed and then you will enjoy preparing a picnic lunch to be taken to a local Vineyard or Farm.  You will be given a map of the area farms to tour enjoy your prepared picnic lunch.
• Arrive back at the Inn at 5:00 pm you start to prepare your evening dinner. Share stories of your Farm adventures, and even use some of the ingredients you may pick up for Our Chef fresh from the farm.
• Once complete you will have a feast of the finest foods to enjoy and top the evening off.

Day Three

• You will once again report to the kitchen at 8:00 am and begin breakfast preparation.
• After enjoying your meal you will have a short break and return to the kitchen by 11:00am.  At this time you will receive instructions and break off to prepare you assigned recipes for lunch.
• This will conclude your three day course.

June: Braising, Roasting & Sauteing

Learn these popular basic cooking skills and wow your family and friends with your new knowledge. Learn how to Braise large tough pieces of meat and make them fall off the bone tender. Learn the thrill of Roasting a whole prime rib to perfection and finally how to Saute small pieces of  meat and seafood in just minutes and how to make an instant quick sauce from the same pan.

July: Grillin & Chillin

Summer is the time to get out your grills, both large and small. Let Chef show you how to grill all your favorite meats and seafood to perfection. Let Chef teach you the secrets of marination and bringing as well as proper cooking temperatures. Your back yard barbecues will never be the same

August: Cooking with Herbs

Learn how to use all of your fresh summer herbs and how to dry the excess for use in the winter. Let Chef teach you what herb goes best with what food.  Once you finish this course you will be ready to go to the herb section of your local super market and will know what herbs pairs well with what meats or seafood. Stop throwing those herbs away and learn how to put them up dry, frozen or in sauce bases.

September: How to Cook with Fall Vegetables

This is the time of the year to take advantage of all the great produce being harvested before the onset of winter. Learn what to do with pumpkins, sweet potatoes, acorn squash, Brussels sprouts, spaghetti squash, beets and all other late summer vegetables.

October: Tail Gate Cooking for the Big Game

Let Chef  show you what his family does in New Orleans right before a New Orleans Saints or a LSU Tigers game; Have a “Tail Gate” party before your favorite teams next big game. Learn how to cook the best wings, burgers, shrimp and dogs.

November: Glorious Thanksgiving Day like a Chef

It’s turkey time. Let Chef show you how to prepare a complete Thanksgiving dinner for your next family gathering. Learn it once and it can become a tradition that will last you forever. Chef will write the recipes and you can take them with you to use year after year.

December: T’is the Season Getting Ready for the Holidays

Parties, Parties and more Parties. Its that time a year again so come in and let Chef  show you how to prepare everything from a small intimate dinner for your immediate family or a gran gala for 100 of your closest friends. Let your budget be your guide. HideAway Chef  has been doing Christmas parties for 25 years and has a lot to show you, so make your reservations early as this is a busy time of the year for the Chef, but he will fit you in and make your holiday parties memorable from year to year.
